I didn't have many musical references about this girl.. His name had been heard in some collaborations such as the one he did with Nick Cave or Sheryl Crow..
After such a peculiar name “Joan as police woman” we find Joan Water about whom I have searched on the internet and found interesting information. Searching a little more I found the root of that name and it is none other than the title of a series performed in the 70 by Angie Dickinson, in which he gave life to a very hard and very cool american police.
Its beginnings date back to a band called The Dambuilders, to continue in Those Bastards Souls (featuring David Shouse – The Grithers y con Steven Drozd – Flaming Lips -). Other bands will follow such as Black Beetle where he will have Michael Tighe and Parker Kindred as bandmates., both former colleagues of Jeff Buckley.

Then her friend Antony invites her to be part of The Johnsons, with whom he has been working until Rufus Wainwright encouraged her to do a solo project. Rufus gave a series of concerts where she was the guest artist to open his concerts. It is at this point where it is born Joan As Police Woman.
With an unclassifiable style Joan Wasser is prepared to present Real Life. referring to her style, she herself has confessed that “I have sometimes called it 'punk rock'&B’, but maybe “american soul music” be a better adjective”.
I can't classify it within that group either, but certainly anything but commercial.. It is not a genre suitable for all audiences, not even for people looking for easy listening music.
