One month left to Carlos Nuñez present this Sea Cimena. It's an album in which Carlos Nunez immersed in the music of film soundtracks recreating real or imagined we could dream for a script or landscapes. Do not forget that his international career was launched following his participation with The Chieftains music in the film Treasure Island when he was 18 years old, although it started much earlier.
Kid, at the foot of the old family home on the edge of the Ria de Vigo, Carlos Nunez attended every summer to the cinema outdoor beach Deilán, by the sea. While recording in the same house for the soundtrack of The Sea Inside, remembered that music theater, curiosity did some demos and listened Alejandro Amenábar, who encouraged him to continue. The result is Cinema do mar.
I have to explain that in France, in 2005, published Cinema sea. It has taken almost two years to make his presentation worldwide? they do not know…but in May 2005 Japan also came in a special edition. Sometimes I do not understand the strategies of record companies. This edition published and contains 12 issues and understand that now adds 9 issues and I guess that's why Cinema do Mar will be inside the new section.
With the participation of guest artists The Chieftains, Dulce Pontes, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Altan, Solas the Juan Manuel Cañizares, Cinema do Mar is a musical journey through film, an adventure traveling through different worlds. Classics such as the Concerto de Aranjuez, Ravel's Bolero or Cello Suite No. 1 by Bach are intertwined with music from films like The Sea Inside, The Godfather or The mission in one of the most open and surprising album of Galician musician who summarizes years of experience, collaborations and work.
Cinema do mar opens with the Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo. Featured numerous times on film, Carlos Nunez has played on tour. The album continues with Bolero, Maurice Ravel, which becomes almost traditional music enriched Xurxo obsessive schedules Nunez. The subject of the film The Godfather uses Galicia and Italy with Carlos Nunez and the hurdy-gurdy of Pancho Alvarez as a bridge. The Cello Suite No. 1 by Johann Sebastian Bach adopts an air of dawn and You're So Cool, the central theme of the film True Romance composed by Hans Zimmer, reminiscent of some Galician carols.
But do mar Cinema, Carlos Nunez travels farther. The music of The Mission, Ennio Morricone composed, suggestion comes by Alejandro Amenábar and sound perfectly suited to Celtic, ethnic and percussive. The music of the film Barry Lyndon, Stanley Kubrick, is represented by the song Women of Ireland, with which the Chieftains won an Oscar and Carlos Núñez was recorded live with guitar by Juan Manuel Cañizares. Tristan and Isolde is a topic eponymous film starring Richard Burton and recorded in Vigo by Carlos Nunez with The Chieftains and the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland. With the group Solas, Carlos Nunez recorded in Hamburg Musikhalle the subject Weep Not for the Memories / A Week in January and the theme The Sailor's Hornpipe is a good example of traditional Irish and Scottish tunes that run Hollywood movies, Here in Altan group collaboration and Seamus Fay.
Ryuichi Sakamoto is present in Cinema do sea through issues and Shining Smile Boy & Little Randy (End Roll). The first is the result of one of the many collaborations that have occurred between Nunez and Sakamoto. This time, Smile is the main theme of the movie Shining Boy & Little Randy and was recorded at the Japanese composer. The end credits music of this film is the second contribution of Ryuichi Sakamoto Cinema do Mar.
Naturally, could not miss the music album Sea Inside, which is represented with three issues. Titles that end is the germ inspires Cinema do Mar, with a slightly different instrument sounds in the film by Alejandro Amenabar. Travel is an unprecedented selection of the main themes of The Sea Inside interpreted by Carlos Nunez and his musicians, tambourine orchestra and two of the people of Ramón Sampedro. And, finally, I want to go or sea is a song that Carlos Nunez made during the recording of the soundtrack for the film based on the melodies of Amenábar and a poem by Sampedro. The lack of time prevented the film and burn it to Carlos Nunez recovered for Cinema do Mar with the voice of Dulce Pontes.
