¿Quién pide el fin del canon?

Pues (al menos en Europa, y con el desinterés total de los consumidores) nada más y nada menos que la BSA. Y no lo hace en solitario, but as part of a pressure group called the Alliance for Copyright Fee Reform (CLRA, by its acronym in English).

This alliance calls on European states to abolish - or at least significantly reduce- the rates “outdated” that tax digital media and devices to compensate rights owners for losses that could be caused by unauthorized copies of their works, for considering them “unfair”, “indiscriminate” and “disproportionate”…

Today, just Ireland, UK, Luxembourg, Malta and Cyprus do not impose fees on digital media and devices.
